"Phishing" is a term used to describe emails that pretend to be from legitimate companies in order to steal your information. As important as it is to have quality security software, it's also important to be a savvy user and learn to spot the warning signs of fraudulent e-mail and websites. Sonicwall has a great quiz with some sample emails. Your job is to identify what is real and what looks "phishy."
